About Film

The spirits of a cranky 97-year-old man are lifted when he plays the piano for memory care patients. His music eases their angst and elicits indelible memories, momentarily freeing them from the trap of dementia.

Of Note

  • Our cast ranged in age from 5 to 97!

  • At the start of this project, John was a healthy independent 97-year-old. Then....John fell and broke his back. His general health deteriorated. Worried that John might not be able to play the piano much longer, our director pulled together a skeleton team and shot John’s scenes on short notice. The day after John shot his scenes, he entered hospice.

  • Adding a shoot day with just one actor’s scenes obviously made everything more complex. We were lucky our Director had a neighbor who could step in as John’s body double for the future shoots. Thankfully, the initial team made themselves available for the second and third shooting days.
